HOW TO CHANGE BAD HABITS

The one constant thing is change. We cannot avoid it and the more we resist change the tougher our life becomes.

Bad habits makes us bad - no one was created bad.

We may not have the best in life now doesn't mean things will not change if we look unto Jesus and live by His principles.

To possess good habits we have to change from our bad habits to good habits.

What's change?

Change is the process of being different. It's engaging in something new that will move you forward on your path to destiny fulfillment.

Change also is the exchange from one thing to another, example is change from a bad habit to a good habit.

The process of change is not always easy, if we must succeed in life we must be ready to follow the rigors of change.

Many run from change and choose the path of staying in depression, they attempt and commit suicide because they have not come to terms with the truth that one thing that is constant is change.

Related: The most difficult thing to do.

Change from a bad relationship to a good one.

Change from a sad life to a joyous life.

Change from poverty to prosperity.

Change from being jobless to becoming an employer.

Change is a choice, we can either choose to change or remain where we are. To change for the better, it comes with a price and principles to walk with.

You should know that as a child of God all things work together for your good, because Christ in you is the hope of glory. You can't be hopeless, the greater one lives in you.

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. — 1 Corinthians 16:13 KJV.

There are three aspect of life I think we need to exercise the power of change:

1. Change from bad habits:

[5]Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
[6]For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
[7]In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
[8]But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. — Colossians 3:5-8 KJV.

There are habits that are not consistent with the will of God, these habits can hinder us from becoming like Christ and fulfilling His purpose for our lives.

Bad habits like smoking, pornograpghy, masturbation, sexual immorality, stealing etc.

Bad habits makes us act bad and then they call such person a bad person.

You are to change from bad habits to good habits so you can live for His glory.

2. Change in position:

The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount — Deuteronomy 1:6 KJV.

This has to do with you not comfortable with the success or achievements you have made, its about having the mindset of constant improvement — being hungry for more. Don't stay stagnant at an achievement you should aim at a new achievement and work towards it.

3. Change in attitude:

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
— Romans 12:2 KJV.

This has to do with mental transformation — your perception to life.
Are you always pessimistic about life?
Do you speak the negative situation you are going through?

How to change bad Habits:

  1. Depend on God's Grace — pray.
  2. Don't accept or excuse any bad habit as a norm in your life.
  3. Look at the danger of such habits to your future and relationship with God — Don't forget eternity.
  4. Seperate from the wrong company they celebrate and motivate your bad habit — evil communication corrupts good manners.
  5. Renew your mind with the word of God — change your mindset and look at life from the word of God. You can change your attitude when you meditate on the word of God. The word of God renews your mind to think and act right.
Don't forget whose and who you are.

You are not your bad habit. You have been bought with a price — the blood of Jesus Christ.

You are the righteousness of God in Christ— believe this truth.

In the process of change you will see yourself still doing that bad habit, don't condemn of give up on yourself, God doesn't condemn you, the devil does (Romans 8:1). Remember, change is a process.

We change so we can become better. We change to improve on our gifts and abilities and live for the Glory of our king.

Don't resist change if you want to become great in life. Just say yes to change and allow the Holy Spirit help you.

God bless you.

You can begin a relationship now with the lord Jesus Christ and experience His love for you by saying this prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe in your death and resurrection. I ask you to forgive me my sins. I reject the devil and all his works and l welcome the Holy Spirit into my life. I declare today I am born again and I am a child of God in Jesus name. Amen.

If you just said that prayer I welcome you to God's family. Look for a Bible believing church where God's word is taught and fellowship there.
