Welcome to Purposeful living today.

We wish you a happy new year and thank God that we made it to 2019.

A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps (Proverbs 16:9).

As we begin this new year we need to set plans and goals that will empower us to succeed. You remember the saying, "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail".

Making a new year resolution will never be a solution for a change of level in the new year. What determines our change of levels is having our set goals and making plans on how to achieve our goals.

No football team ever goes to a match with a desire to score goals without having strategies (plans) on how to win their opponent.  It is the strategy makes the coach position players in their respective wings on the field that he knows is best for each player.
To win in 2019 we must plan on how to win and not wish to win. Most people don't know the difference between a plan and a goal, we either mix them up or we don't know what each demand from us.  I personally use to mix them up and this deprived me of knowing what each demand and how to enjoy the expected outcome.

Let's define them so we can know how to go about each as we prepare for success this new year 2019.

What is a plan?

A plan is a set of intended actions, usually mutually related, through which one expects to achieve a goal.

A plan is a formalized or structured method for obtaining or attaining something. It typically includes goals (objectives/markers/targets), tasks/steps
(actions/activities), deadlines (time frames in which you reach goals and take certain actions), and a timeline (the overall time it will take to fulfill all tasks and reach all goals).

In a plan, you expressly state the way you are going to achieve your goal. This plan can be Plan A, B, or C.
This means there are different ways to get to where you are going. If I want to go to Abuja, Nigeria for a meeting, for me to get there I can choose the various means of transportation available.

I can travel by air which means in less than an hour I will be in Abuja. I can choose to travel by land by trekking my way to Abuja, It will take me months to get there. I can still travel by land and board of a vehicle which will take me about 8 hours to get there.

You see I have a goal but have plans A, B, and C to get me there. The best Plan is Plan A which is going by Air because of its efficiency and effectiveness.

So you should know the best plan that you need to reach your goals and this is by sourcing for the right information you need and have the resources to execute that plan.

What is a Goal?
A Goal is a measurable objective/marker/target you try to reach in many cases within a certain time-frame.

A goal is a result that one is attempting to achieve.

Anyone can set a goal, but goals offer no means to accomplish themselves.
Goal-setting is as arbitrary as making the statement; "I want to earn a million naira in 2019!" If you want to earn a "million naira in 2019"  you will need a business plan that will define what you need to do to realize your millionaire dream. A goal is just a desire with no statement of action to achieve that desire.

Goal setting involves you listing the goals you want to achieve during a particular time-frame.

Goal planning is showing how you want to achieve each of the goals that you have set.

If for example, you have a goal to lose 30 pounds in 2019. If all you do is set that goal you are in essence "Wishing".  If you write down that goal and tape it to your bathroom mirror you are still "Wishing". Although you should be commended for at least putting your "Wish" in writing.

A simple basic plan for losing weight would involve looking at your diet and calculating how much less you need to consume to lose weight. This has to be very basic but it would eventually get the job done. A more in-depth plan would also examine how much time you have to lose weight, your time for your exercise routine and the time-frame to change your diet. These objectives will lead you to achieve your goal to lose 30 pounds.

Better yet planning would involve a change in diet, with a daily list of consumption, an exercise routine allocated to meet your desired results, and finally a way to track your progress and make appropriate changes. Now you have something worthy enough to put on your bathroom mirror, a plan to achieve your desire to lose 30 pounds.

You are responsible for your future no one else will be held responsible. So let's choose to become successful this year by setting goals and have our plans to achieve our goals in all areas of our lives (Spiritually, Financially, Relationships, Professionally, Mentally, Health and Academically). Success is when we achieve our goals.

It is the will of God to prosper in every area of our lives. We wish you God's best this year.
It takes only God to give you the supernatural abilities you need to achieve the goals that will make you a wonder to your world, no matter the plans of the enemy. You will need his empowerment for speed this year. God gives speed that makes you stay in health, prosperity, joy, rest, and peace. You can only receive His empowerment when you have a relationship with Him.

You can begin a relationship now with the Lord Jesus Christ and experience His love for you by saying this prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, I believe in your death and resurrection.

I ask you to forgive me my sins, I reject the devil and all his works and l welcome the Holy Spirit into my life. I declare today I am born again and I am a child of God in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you just said that prayer I welcome you to God's family. Look for a Bible-believing church where God's word is taught and fellowship there.

The beginning of a new year is certainly worth celebrating, but it's also a time to remind ourselves that life isn't simply a party - it's a calling and commission from God. Life is short. We must remember to dedicate each day to knowing and doing the will of God.
