WHAT IS MARRIAGE?

Marriage is not the wedding ceremony which many people spend their time preparing for. The wedding ceremony is an event that leads to marriage; it is just a day event. After the wedding comes marriage which is for a life time, this is actually what we should spend a great deal of our time preparing for. Marriage is the first institution created by God; marriage is not a man-made institution primarily for man's benefit but rather a God-made institution primarily for God's glory. Marriage is spiritual; it came from God and was His ideal and hence should be done His way. "Marriage is for the glory of God" and not "the glory of  God for the living of marriage" and not "marriage lived by the glory of God".

The glory of God is not an instrument to build a healthy and godly marriage. The little word "for" means that there an order of priority. There is an order of ultimacy. There is an ultimate reason for marriage.  This order is plain; God is the number one priority and ultimate, marriage is not. God is the most important reality and is the reason for the reality of marriage. This is why marriage is for His glory. His glory is the expression of God's beauty, presence, awesomeness, love, greatness, mightiness , holiness, perfection etc.

Before God united Adam and Eve in the very first marriage, he already had something else in mind. Before he joined the first husband to the first wife, he was already thinking forward to what that marriage and every subsequent marriage would portray: the relationship of Jesus Christ and his church. Every marriage is meant to display the truth about the covenant-keeping love of God for his people. In this portrait, the husband is a display of Jesus Christ who woos his bride, who leads her, who cares for her, and who is intimately united to her; the wife is a display of the church who is drawn by Christ, who joyfully follows him, who joins in his life and work, and who is intimately united to him.

Marriage gives us a vivid picture of the kind of love God has for his people and the kind of love his people have for him. It gives us language to use to understand and describe something so beautiful, so wondrous. As Tim Savage writes, “We marry, not primarily for our own benefit and pleasure, nor principally for the comfort of mutual affection, nor ultimately for the joy of bearing and raising children. We marry because in a work of unparalleled glory the Lord built this union. We marry because of his glory.”

Marriage is the expression and effulgence of God's glory. It exist to magnify the truth and worth and beauty and greatness of God; God does not exist to glorify marriage. Until this order for marriage is understood vividly and valued; until it is seen and savoured, marriage will not be experienced as a revelation of God's glory but as a rival of God's glory.
Knowing, cherishing and valuing the glory of God above all things, including your spouse is the key to living marriage for the glory of God. This is the true meaning of marriage and every other relationship; God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. Marriage will be preserved and shaped for the glory of God when the glory of God is more precious to us than marriage... to be continued

THE FATHER'S CALL !!!

There is a void in every man that wealth, fame, social status, sex, drink, fun and the likes can't fill.  It is only God that can fill that void, what is that void that is missing? It is the absence JESUS IN YOUR LIFE AND ALL HE OFFERS such as peace, love, righteousness and joy in the Holy Ghost.  You have taken the wheel of your life all by yourself and like Peter you have caught nothing with your life, this is the time to allow Jesus Christ into your boat (life)  so he can help you to catch the fullness of life in him that gives you a meaningful life on earth and defines your eternal destination.

If you want to surrender to Jesus Christ, why not say this prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ  I acknowledge that I am a sinner,  I believe in your death and resurrection.  I ask you forgive me of my sins,  I reject the devil and all his works and l welcome the Holy Spirit into my life.  I declare today I am born again and I am a child of God in Jesus name .Amen .

If you just said that prayer I welcome you to God's family. Look for a Bible believing church where God's word is taught to fellowship there.
