Welcome to purposeful living today. Friendship is a gift but if its purpose is not understood abuse will be inevitable and when you begin to loose your friends you will think there is something wrong with you because you have tried all you can to keep the friendship but all to no avail,  they no longer want to spend time with you,  they show no interest in you and don't call anymore. This will make you think there is a problem with you and you can begin to have low self-esteem about yourself.

While I was about graduating from primary school,  I had a missed feeling of joy and sorrow.  The joyful part was that I was going to secondary school and sorrowful part was I was about loosing  some very dear friends.  It was through associating with these friends that I became born again and  loved God.  They sparked a hunger in my heart for God that at that time you can't find me without my new testaments Bible in my pocket.  I looked for any opportunity to study God's word,  any break time when my class mates were playing I will look for a quiet place to sit down with my Bible and study God's word.  The impact they made in my life more than 15 years ago can still be seen today in my life,  so you can see what loosing them met to me because most of us where going to different secondary schools.
My fear and pain then was that I will never meet people of that calibre who will mark a difference in my life through their lifestyle and devotion to God at that young age.  I wept bitterly for a very long time, I did not understand then that friends come and go. I was not taught about friendship, so I never knew that most friends come for a SEASON in your life.

There are friends who come to your life for a REASON  and  a SEASON. They did not come to be life long friends or companions.  They were sent for a particular purpose in your life,  it maybe to protect from making wrong decisions,  to know God better, to build your character,   to help you in your career, academics, relationship etc. This may be for weeks,  months or years, when they are done with their job in your life they will quietly leave you. This why you lost contact with your secondary school class mate because they are now in the university,  by the way you said they were showing off as they no longer associate with you because they are in school and you are at home,  you should understand now that it is because their season in your life has expired,  so you have to move on,  there are thousands persons out there waiting to be your friend.  The truth is that as you go higher in life you will loose friends that are dear to you.
So, what do you do when these friends leave after you have tried all you can to bring them close but they choose to be one of your acquaintance?   You don't  cry or feel you are inferior,  but rather thank God for the gift of such friends and move forward. I had a hunger for God but did not know how to ignite the fire until I met some friends during my JAMB lecture, who put a Fire in my prayer life and introduced me to reading Christian literatures since then I have not stop reading.  I tried keeping them but it did not work,  it was then I understood that every friendship has a PURPOSE and most friendship with a REASON and for a SEASON .

When you meet friends,  the first thing you do is to discover the purpose,  you may or may not know the end of the friendship,  but it should be in your mind that this person may not be with me for a long time. This means that you respect, love and honor them while you still have them around .  Jesus Christ stayed with the 12 Apostles for three and half years(season) and for a reason,  left them when his time on earth was fulfilled.
Walk in purpose in your friendship, though most of your friends will leave you,  there is a friend who will never leave you, His name is JESUS CHRIST.  Have you made Him your friend, it is through Him you can get all the impactful friends you need.  Surrender to His friendship today!
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil". 1 John 3:8.
