Welcome to purposeful living. We continue with how to deal with depression; a quick review we said, depression can be handled when we face the challenge, not running from it and when we share the burden to our people we trust. We will now look at other ways of handling depression
      1.      Renew your mind, see possibilities:Our mindset determines our life set, when we tend to look at how people have hurt us and fill our heart with pain, we will have open the door for depression. It is true that someone broke your heart; you don’t have to think that they left you because you are not beautiful or they are too good for you.  Our mindset must be productive, it should make us ask empowering questions such as, where did I miss it? What did I do wrong? Was I at fault, how should I have acted? What mistake did I make and how not to do same? What do I need to do, to overcome this challenge? These are the questions we should be asking ourselves instead of filling our minds with thoughts of rejection that produces low self-esteem and the output becomes mediocrity, where people now take advantage of you. The bible says as a man thinks in his heart so he is, if you think you are a failure, so you are.
2.       God has a plan for your life: Understand that you are loved and special to God he even calls you the apple of His eyes [Zech 2:8]. So you are not alone and God got your back no matter the circumstances. When we know the plans God have for us is the best, we will not live in the state of depression, because God makes all things work together for our good. Yes someone broke your heart, know God is bringing someone better, you failed in that exam understand that God sees you as a success, as you have learnt from failure you will do better next time. This is what God said to us in Jer 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”. God has no plans to make your heart broken, because heals the broken hearted. You have to work with God’s plan for your family, career, health, relationship, finance, academic. You hold on to his plan in any area of your life that is not living up to expectation, through meditating on his word; it is God’s word you memorize that you utilize.
3.       Don’t quit: Quitting is no option for you as a child of God, because God says to you in Philp  4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”. Quitting is giving up on yourself and God; this is the reason so many people commit suicide and bring their dreams to a halt. All things are possible to Him who believes. No matter how distressed you are like David whose city was burnt,  his family and that of his soldiers taken as captives by the Amalekites [1 Sammuel 30], you have to encourage yourself  in the lord like David knowing fully well that God is with you and is in charge. God will never give you a challenge that is greater than you, you have the capacity.
4.       Pray: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” Philp 4:6.  We are specialist in worrying not praying; you don’t need to bother yourself how things will work out, just tell it to God, and surrender everything to him for with God all things are possible. Prayers changes situations and empower us to go through the challenge that makes us champions. This is God’s word for you today “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts” [Zech 4:6]. Pray and not faint in depression, cast all your cares on the lord who cares for you. You are created to live a life of joy, for God takes from you the spirit of heaviness for that of joy. Keep ruling and reigning, you are not alone. #klapl.
